I'm pretty much bored preparing for interviews and looking for a job, so it's time to do another cheap analysis on who's more popular - KT So or Christine Mendoza! The data I used was taken from Google Trends within the last 12 months as of May 1, 2008.
Looking at the line chart, we find that people are consistently searching for Christine Mendoza more than KT So, except for the month of November 2007, where her search ranking increased and Christine Mendoza's line decreased. However, starting December and onward, Christine Mendoza retook the lead and has consistently topped KT So in 2008 searches worldwide.
Now let's take a look at regional differences between the two import models. First up is their global popularity.
KT So is more popular in Singapore, Vietnam, and Canada. The United States being third in search popularity of her name. Christine Mendoza is more popular in the Philippines, Canada, and the United States. These statistics show that these two sexy import models are primarily backed by fans from their own ethnic backgrounds, specifically fans from Asian countries - and primarily from their countries of origin in the case of Christine Mendoza and to a lesser degree KT So. Note however that Christine Mendoza has a greater base of searches within European countries compared to KT So.
Next, we look at international cities. KT So dominates Singapore a major trans-shipment hub within the region and Vancouver where a large Chinese population calls home. Christine Mendoza on the other hand owns Makati the premiere financial city in the Philippines and Sydney which has a large Filipino population.
The language of the fan gives a good contrast between the two import models.
Respondents who are interested in KT So are primarily using Asian languages (Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese) and of course English. Second tier languages are mainly European (German, French, Spanish), but please note that KT So has less in-language searches within European countries when compared to Christine Mendoza.
Christine Mendoza's respondents primarily are Tagalog speakers, English, and Spanish. This is followed by primarily European languages.
The contrast between the two import models shows two different linguistic markets. KT So primarily has her strength in the East Asian fan base, with the exception of the Philippines where she does not exist in Google search. Christine Mendoza has her fans in the Philippines and multiple European countries.
Let's now take a microscope at the regional popularity within the United States.
Just looking at the chart, it's consistent that Christine Mendoza has a small lead in each of the regional markets. One exception being San Diego where KT So barely registers. This is due to the fact that the San Diego market is heavily populated with Filipinos who seem to be in love with Christine Mendoza.
Looking at the language, Christine Mendoza takes a large percentage of fans who speak English.
So what can I conclude with these charts? Each import model relies on their ethnic base as their primary supporters. However, Christine Mendoza has reached a higher plateau in global name recognition and Google searches while KT So has a high fan base in East Asia.
I don't think anyone minds, they both have really hot bodies. So yea, in the event I have the chance to do more than stare and take pictures, I'll need to get a pack of Viagra and do my best to pump... it... up...
