History and the hot model

So why 310610 someone asked?

Here's the story. Now we have to take a little time traveling back to 2007 when I was thinking of a website to post my pictures from the Hot Import Nights shows I've been going to.

First I used Flickr to post my pictures but then I figured man, I'm paying for the pro account. I need to earn money for this. So OK, Google Adsense looked good. I'll use that ad program to make millions of dollars! Yea!

I thought to myself, self, I need a site where I can use this here Adsense to make some dollars. OK, this is where I started to figure out the name of the site...

There was some cool names I thought of, something in the line of hotcars... taken... hotmodels.... nope, babes... to late, someone else got it... until I got the ultimate name that was still available, yea boy! Using godaddy's domain search tool was cool and simple!

Now here's where I get pissed off. I procrastinated for a few days. Did I really want to do this? Do I want to spend money on this? I finally bit the bullet and came back to godaddy and clicked "buy"....

TAKEN! Some F#@$%@ER bought the domain name that I thought was going to be mine! When the hell did this happen? So I checked the whois database and the dude bought it just a few days after I was searching for it...

... so get this, after reading up on domain names and the industry... someone must have seen all my searches and bought the names I typed. Yea, I was pissed, so out of the blue, I figured, man this is shit man.

The hell with that, I'm going to put my phone number as my domain.

After cooling down, I dropped that idea, that would have been really stupid.

Instead of my phone number, I took the first three digits - the area code - 310.

Found out that 310 has been taken. It's the area code for the west side of Los Angeles, the sweet side - where I live.

Now I'm thinking of those long distance ads a few years back for 1010-xxx numbers. Those were pretty catchy I thought to myself... I needed something different... I'll double it!

I'll freaking double the number! Has to be lucky! 310610!

BTW, I later found out that 610 is the area code for Pennsylvania.

Now, I already was thinking of creating a site, so I used the free google pages, but that took so much time and energy to create a page that I started looking for something else that was easier to use.

That's when I started using blogger... and here I am, not even close to making a million dollars.

So this year, I did buy the autoshowevents domain name. I was floored when no one had bought it, so I immediately hit the buy button. Hell yea!

Now the thing is, I'm afraid to switch the two domains because 310610 is easier to remember for foreign visitors. That's what I think.

This site gets more than half of its visitors from outside of the United States most days. Plus, I don't want to screw up my search rankings, which is still pretty low.

Man that was long. You guys deserve some babe pictures for the hassle of reading that story!
