The reason why most of you go to SpoCom is for the imports, and there was tons of that. I should have taken more pictures of the cars, eh? I'll try to come early this year and start with the car show before starting on the import models... hopefully, but it's so... hard.

Insanity at the Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach

What's the difference between a week? Price gouging. I'm not talking about the spiraling fuel cost. I'm saying that the cost of parking is crazy. I got to Long Beach and went to my favorite cheap parking lot, thinking it was going to be the same price as last week - $8 dollars. Passing by the other parking lots, I saw $10 bucks, $8 bucks, $15... $20... then I get to my spot - $15 bucks. Man.

Screw that. I drove for a better price - none in sight, so I come back. Hell, I'm wasting gas, and that costs money. The $8 dollar lots are too far.

Take your money - I need the walk to the event. I do a double take, $30 bucks for an outside parking lot, now that's crazy I think. Walk a few more blocks closer to the event - The Renaissance has parking for $35. Isn't their a law against price gouging?

Just crazy man. Freaking crazy. I'm not even going to start with the wall of scalpers you go through to enter the Toyota Grand Prix.

But yea, I got in around 12, and left around 4. It's pretty big - lotta stuff to see. The Toyota Grand Prix lasts until Sunday - tomorrow. Just try to carpool, take the metro, or the bus and save yourself some cash for the ticket and the food.

Korean Hot Model at the Formula Drift in Long Beach

The heat was getting to me, as I was sitting down behind a trailer truck taking in the precious shade. People walking pass going towards the stands. I could tell you this, the stands were packed with people - so forget that, I'm not going. I just came from there where I bought one of those fruit juice drinks to kool me down.

Tasted good! Got the regular size, which was pretty good, cost $6 dollars. The large one was called the Tiki cost $8 bucks, but the plastic cup is reusable. I didn't feel like carrying it around, so didn't get it.

I'm out of here. So get up fool! Yup - walking towards the exit...

Drifting!

Correct! No bloody drifting shots! Why? OK, I didn't go early as I said I was a few days ago, I got there around lunch time. I also didn't leave late as I said I was - I left around 4. So yea, I lied. F@ that.

A buddy took some quick videos last year of the FormulaD event. If you still want some pictures of the drifting I took last year, here's the post with the link to the drifting pictures.

Compared to last year's low attendance at the Formula Drift competition in Long Beach, this year it was packed with people - little people, big people, wide people, and tons of bouncy girls as promotional models and attendees.

The general stands were packed, so I didn't even bother taking shots. Yea, I paid for the general seating, I'm sure not going to pay for premium seats, hell no - I'm still looking for a job while I'm conserving money and going to these events. Not going to stop just because of a small bump in the road - even though it basically deprives me of any kinda money coming in.

There was one incident that pissed me off as I was walking to my car on 3rd street. Paid 8 bucks for parking. That wasn't the incident, it was....

OK, so I'm walking, feeling good as I just had a pastrami sandwich and a sprite. Weather was scorching hot all day long, and I'm just thinking of going home to take a needed shower... a cold one.

"Hey, my car ran out of gas, can you lend me some money?" What the hell was that? What did this dude just ask me? Wanted what?

This guy didn't look broke, and hey... he has a car, so that means he had the means to buy it, and I'm thinking... any fool that runs out of gas should be flogged. Any sucker who begs for gas should have his car towed.

When regular gas costs a minimum of 3.70 dollars a gallon, what the F%#$%! I'm not going to give you money for gas... dips#$%#....

I just put my hands up - said sorry, and just walked the hell out of there... begging for gas... sheeez...
